Union Dems met Tuesday the 21st: at the Badger on Union Common to meet Senate District 12 candidate Dave Miramant and District 91 and 95 unenrolled candidates Jeff Evangelos, Gary Sukeforth, and Will Neils. Turnout and hospitality were great. Thanks to organizers Jeff Nims and Ann Donaldson.
Sen. Ed Mazurek retirement party. Thursday, Oct 16th:
5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Elks Lodge, 210 Rankin St., Rockland. Admission by donation to benefit home heating assistance for Knox County families. KCDC is an event sponsor.

Election Day. Everyone votes, then comes to Headquarters to watch the returns, draw the raffle prizes, and celebrate (time to be announced.)

Dave Miramant shone in the Camden debate on 10/01. His opponent in the Senate district 12 race spouted TEA party doctrine, and was clearly out of her depth trying to answer questions on policy issues. Responding to the question, "How will Climate Change affect the Maine economy?", she said, "...I am not a scientist, but I have not seen any climate change in my town... "
But then, maybe like the Guv, she doesn't read the newspaper. The Boston Globe (09/21): "Maine, scientists say, is uniquely vulnerable. 'More than any other state, because of its immense natural resources and where it’s located, Maine is particularly sensitive to changes in climate,' said Paul Andrew Mayewski, director of the Climate Change Institute at the University of Maine...." more...
Hope Democrats met Thursday, Oct 9th
at 5:30 p.m. at the Hatchett Mountain Publick House. Everyone welcome ('outsiders' too). Lawn signs, bumper stickers, and raffle tickets on hand. Meet Gary Sukeforth, candidate for Maine House District 95.
KCDC's Great Election Season Travel Raffle
The Knox County Democratic Committee is holding a Campaign Season Travel Raffle. Tickets are $20. Only 1,000 tickets will be sold. The winners will be drawn on election night, November 4.
$4,000 Travel Voucher! Use it for any trip you can imagine. It would buy, for example, a 4-day, 3-night trip to Disney World for four people, including airfare, on-site housing, transportation to and from the Orlando airport, and Disney World passes for 3 days, based on travel between April and November 2015. (Winner will receive a $4,000 voucher which may be used for this trip or other travel.)
Spirit Soaring glider ride with Dave Miramant:
This is a 3/4 hour ride from Owl's Head airport with views of Penobscot Bay and the closer Islands of Vinalhaven, North Haven, and Isle au Haut. Also breathtaking views of the distant mountains: Katahdin, Washington and Sugarloaf.
Thanks to Arthur Dumican and Jean Morrison who are heading up this effort. Tickets are on sale at our HQ and from many members.
