Legislative Update: In-Person & Online

Join KCDC as we host our local state legislators for a Legislative Update on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, from 10:00 AM to Noon.  This is a hybrid event, both in-person at the Camden Public Library (Picker Room) and online. Our legislators will provide an update on their great work in the past session and answer voters’ questions.

Confirmed legislators so far include Senator Anne “Pinny” Beebe-Center (District 12) and Representatives Victoria Doudera (District 41), Valli Geiger (District 42), and Ann Matlack (District 43).

Admission is free and open to all Knox County residents, but advance registration is required. In-person seating is limited and granted on a first come, first served basis.  Register here. PLEASE NOTE: The Legislative Update takes the place of the regular evening business meeting for October.

Community Picnic hosted by Knox Dems

Join the fun as the Knox County Democrats host a Community Picnic to celebrate Fall and our legislative accomplishments past and future!  Mingle with friends and our legislative officials while enjoying music and food hot off the grill with all the fixins!  

It’s an informal, fun event, so bring your favorite lawn chair or picnic blanket to spread out on the green overlooking the hills, while enjoying the food and music provided by Sea Strings.  There will be games for the kids and our “Gear Up for 2024” raffle of an ebike to tempt you.

This is a “rain or shine” event.  If the weather is inclement, we’ll move indoors to the hall.

Please consider being an event sponsor.  Sponsors receive special benefits and recognition at the event.  Sponsorships will help KCDC meet the challenges of organizing for the coming 2024 election, including opening a Headquarters.

Knox County Democratic Committee Monthly Meeting - April 2021

Penobscot Nation Chief Kirk Francis will speak to the Knox County Democratic Committee (KCDC) on behalf of the Wakanabi Alliance on their pending legislation before the Maine Legislature. Chief Francis is scheduled to speak at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, prior to the Committee’s monthly business meeting. There are two pieces of legislation to update the 1980 Maine Indian Claims Settlement Act. According to the Wakanabi Alliance, there need to be changes to the Settlement Act. Since its implementation in 1980, the tribes in Maine have been left out of 151 federal laws which benefit the other 570 federally recognized tribes across the country. 


This session will be held ”virtually” via Zoom. KCDC welcomes all registered Democrats to hear Chief Francis. Advance registration is required. Registration closes 10:00 AM on April 13, 2021. Those interested should use this link to register:

Future of Maine Power Town Hall

A proposal for cutting a 145-mile corridor for a transmission line in western Maine that would bring hydropower from Quebec to Massachusetts, plus recent events related to failures by Central Maine Power make it a opportune time to discuss options for the future of power in Maine.

Please join us for a Town Hall on the Future of Maine Power from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, in the meeting room of the Rockport Opera House, Rockport, Maine. The event will feature a presentation by Maine State Rep. Seth Berry (D-Bowdoinham) along with Knox County elected officials Rep. Victoria Doudera (D-Dist. 94) and State Sen. Dave Miramant (D-Knox) on a proposal that would create a new consumer-owned utility to replace Central Maine Power and Emera Maine. Rep. Berry is Chair of the Maine Legislature’s Energy, Utilities and Technology Committee, of which Rep. Doudera and Sen. Miramant are members.

Donkey Crawl - Democratic Social Gathering

Please come to the Knox County Democrats first weekly "Donkey Crawl" at the new Block Saloon in Thomaston!  (173 Main Street)

We will be hosting an informal weekly pub gathering with other Democrats to talk politics, discuss the upcoming elections, and to meet local candidates.

Ann Matlack, Maine legislative candidate for District 92 (Cushing, South Thomaston, St. George, Thomaston and Matinicus, Criehaven and Muscle Ridge Islands) will join us for our first gathering.
